Find people who also tie-dye their sheets and socks and I’ll believe you…

A sign I am in the right place: I was not the only person wearing tie-dye at the coffee shop.

Every time a moderately intelligent person uses the word “fag,” a little part of me dies.
“…men [or women] in white coats.”
ericapolis:
“Instead, let men and women — and all those anomalously and uncomfortably perched in the middle — compete against each other in a single championship. There would be no requirement for undignified and distressing genetic testing — only cheats who use drugs to change their bodies would need to fear the men in white coats.”

Growing up
I still leech off my mother’s health insurance. I do, however, have my own bank account. Two, in fact. So I guess that makes me twice the adult you are, Erica.
I still don’t make my bed.
ericapolis:
My mother says that you can tell that a person is fully matured if they make their bed in the morning without being told. I started this habit a few months ago, so I guess that means...
Adventures in Atlanta Biking
Today on the way home from school on Oakdale:
Woman in Jeep Cherokee: “GET ONTO THE SIDEWALK! JESUS!” *cut to next red light* Me: “Do you realize you are driving a Sports Utility Vehicle?” Woman in Jeep Cherokee: “And?” Me: “Well. Your Sports Utility Vehicle comes stock with a bicycle rack on its roof.” Woman in Jeep Cherokee: “So what?”...

Dear Drivers in Atlanta (and anywhere, really)
Please don’t FUCKING TEXT MESSAGE WHILE YOU DRIVE! Nothing is more infuriating to me than to have someone pass me on the left at a dangerously close distance and speed only to look into the car and see the driver steering with her elbows…both hands and opposable thumbs planted firmly on the pull-out qwerty keypad of a fucking cell phone.
Seriously. Use common sense. (i.e. YOU SHOULD...

Atlas Sound + Dirty Projectors
I went to my first Atlanta show in East Atlanta last night. Dirty Projectors were headlining and opening was Atlas Sound.
Atlas Sound was very different from what I was expecting…no samplers; Bradford was on stage with a guitar, and backing him was The Selmanaires, a local Atlanta band. The new songs he played were markedly more upbeat than previously recorded ones. They even played a...
I shit you not.
Today, I went into Aurora Coffee (the local coffee shop down the street in Little Five Points), and I met Jared, Cole, and Ian from the Black Lips.
Upon leaving: Jared: “Hey man, well welcome to Atlanta!” Cole: “…where the playas play, mother fucker.”
I’m set…in love…and still sweating from the bike ride. So many hills

Almost as much as Apple paid them for this. [Actually, probably nowhere near as much…]

I wonder how much Microsoft is paying for those huge Bing ads on the New York Times website?

Huntsville has a critical mass! And it was last night…and bigger than I had expected it to be. Albeit super tame, well-behaved, and short.
That’s my pit-stained v-neck getting printed at the end.
Thanks to Derek Johnson for filming.
A Page Out of Angst-Addled Suburbia Circa 1999
Today, as I was trying to land a skate trick in my driveway, my board slipped out from under my feet and flew out into the street. Like a 12 year old, I instinctually ran into the street to try and catch my deck…and just before I stepped out onto the road, I heard a loud honk from my left. I jumped back just in time to see a lifted Jeep Grand Cherokee barrel past my face and snap my...

What exactly makes the heart grow fonder, again?
Today, from the hours of about 7pm to 11:15pm CST, a huge region of Southeast Huntsville (including my block) was left without electricity.
It’s amazing what a lack of electricity can do to a suburban block. As we left the house to grab some food from a restaurant with a working stove, we saw countless families sitting outside of their homes…either freaking out about the lack of...
